Registration Information:
Your class tuition is paid through a monthly subscription plan of $85 automatic payment on the 1st of the month. You will need to complete the subscription in order to secure your spot in the class.

If you ever want to leave the class and stop/pause subscription please notify me by the 25th of the prior month at the latest.

Please note:
All months are the same subscription fee, this means about four months of the year you'll get an extra class when there are five Wednesdays in a month and every now and then we may have to skip a class and only have three Wednesdays in a month (holidays and unforeseen circumstances). The class is priced under the assumption that these will balance each other out.

Schedule:
Class meets every Wednesday 7-9pm. Please let your teacher know with as much advance notice as possible if you will need to miss a class. Your class will perform every month on the second Thursday at 8:30pm.

Communication:
We will be adding you to a designated ATP Basecamp project shortly as that will be the main tool of communication for the class. Please let me know if you need assistance with getting on and using the platform. Email may still be used occasionally, going forward you will be cc'ed, not bcc'ed, please let me know if you need me to keep your email blind copied. If you are new to being a student at Mockingbird, you will also be added to our general student basecamp.

Tuesdays 10am-12pm weekly ongoing class.

Grown-Ups Improv is for 55+ year olds who are forever young at heart! The class will focus on finding freedom through play and honing improv skills in an environment that is supportive and inclusive. We will explore freedom and creativity through:

The class will entail both improv games and scene work and is recommended for those with prior training in improvised scene work (Mockingbird's Improv Essentials level 3 class or above or equivalent training)

This class is led by Ellen Kaz (she/her) who grew up with The Second City in Chicago, more Home to her than any apartment her family rented. For its first ground-breaking 25 years, her father was the club's iconic Music Director; her mother was Operations Manager for 40 years. Improv is in the marrow of Ellen's bones; it's in her DNA, which takes suggestions, adores collaboration and does not need a mic. Ellen trained at Second City primarily with Don DePollo and Martin De Maat, who called her very first improv showing on the Second City E.T.C. stage "So good it was scary." Ellen's work in performance (both improv and dance) has been seen in the US from coast to coast, in Europe and in South Africa.

Enrollment in this class is by monthly subscription. It is a flat rate each month regardless of whether there are 3 classes or 5 classes that month and is not dependent on how many classes the student attends. Class tuition is kept as low as possible to increase accessibility (comes to only $15 per class!) and build in flexibility for those who's schedule cannot accommodate a weekly commitment.

Improv is all about cultivating joy and connection, and tapping into our creative energy! While it is a performance art and a skill to be honed for some, it is also a fun way to let loose and embrace silliness. This ongoing weekly class is all about PLAY. We will play a ton of fun games every week that utilize the fundamentals of improv such as Yes, And and collaborative creation to dive into the joy of spontaneous creativity.

This is not a skills-based class, it is about playing for the sake of play. All are welcome, no prior training needed!


This class is led by Jenn Wessels, an enthusiastic improviser who thrives on the magic of the stage. Having a flair for the dramatic she found her skills well suited in sales and marketing. With over ten years of experience she used her talents to bring innovative marketing strategies to life. Working with a plethora of different types of companies and clients has given her the life experiences to diversify her tactics. Thinking outside of the box, while maintaining a high level of communication builds a great scene and a great team!
