This six-hour workshop will cover the fundamentals of melody and how they can organically lead to song structure. It will also cover different ways to discover lyrical content and how sound can give birth to content. We will work on rhyme and how simple it can actually be. In this class you will get our of your head and learn how to FIND the song instead of creating it.

This workshop is designed for improvisers brand new to musical improv as well as seasoned musical improvisers. Rob's unique method of improvised song creations will help newer folks dive right in and get those with more experience looking at musical improv in a whole new way.

ROB SCHIFFMANN has worked and toured as a professional actor, improviser, and musician for just over thirty years (holy crap!). As a two-time MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) Award winner and the recipient of the 2011 INNY (Improvisation News) Award for Best Improv Coach, Rob’s musical, improv, and teaching talents are known across the country and around the world. Rob performed regularly with Chicago City Limits, NYCs longest running comedy improv show, before joining Broadway’s Next Hit Musical and eventually becoming their co-artistic director. When Rob is not making national and international audiences laugh hysterically with BNHM, he can be found emceeing corporate events and designing and leading workshops for other improvisational companies, as well as major corporations such as Bank of America, Microsoft, Cartier, Pfizer, and many others, including numerous Fortune 500 companies.
