Description
Description:

The Head and the Heart: Unlocking Vulnerability through Musical Improv, a transformative workshop, will have improvisers dive deep into two key elements of musical improv: the head (verses) and the heart (choruses). Participants will learn to craft authentic, emotionally resonant songs that connect with both the performer and the audience by using Playback Theatre practices, drawing on stories and experiences shared by themselves and their classmates. The workshop builds confidence in song structure, metaphorical imagery, and even the power of silence, inspiring improvisers to create truthful and vulnerable musical moments on stage.

About Ralph Krumins:

Ralph Krumins (Ivories Guy) is an international improv performer, educator, and collaborator with more than 20 years of experience. For the past decade, he has devoted himself to music directing long-form musical improv across Florida, the U.S., and abroad, working with ensembles such as Four First Names, Playback UCF, SAK Comedy Lab, Limboland, Solovela, and many more. In 2022, he launched his solo show, Ivories Guy, where he invites audiences to share true stories from their own lives and then transforms those moments into fully improvised, heartfelt songs on the spot—creating a space that is as playful and collaborative as it is moving.

The workshop is Sunday, July 19, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Third Space Improv in St. Augustine.

Registration: $60 advance / $70 door
