The Late 90s Workshop Series is a series of 6 workshops that will meet on Saturday afternoons at Logan Square Improv. Weeks 1-5 will meet from 3:30-6pm. Week 6 will meet from 12:30-3pm. Cost is $300. Registration is only available for the entire 6-week package and will be capped at 14 students. Though not required, having completed some longform improv training is recommended in order for prospective students to get the most out of this workshop series.

These are six individual workshops from the six unique perspectives that make up the veteran improv team The Late 90s!

Clayton Margeson:
Bio:
Clayton Margeson started his improv career at ComedyWorx in Raleigh NC in 2002. In 2008, he moved to Chicago and accumulated over a decade of experience performing, coaching and teaching improv with some of the best performers in the country (e.g. the Late 90's).

Workshop:
Fun Characters, Better Scenes
Sharpen your skills and pick up a few tools for your scene work with this deep dive into moment-by-moment listening and collaboration. You'll deepen your characters and find their humanity while still having the time of your life on stage. Be warned: you will break a sweat.

Meghan Babbe:
Bio:
Meghan has improvised all around the city with The Late 90s and Virgin Daiquiri. She’s toured the country with Second City’s National Touring Company and has been a part of three resident revues on the Second City's e.t.c. stage. You can sometimes catch her performing characters, essays, and stand-up at The Green Mill's Paper Machete.

Claire Favret:
Bio:
Claire is a Chicago-based improviser, writer, and standup. She has contributed headlines for The Onion and Clickhole, and toured with The Second City’s National Touring Company. She loves performing with Downpour, The Late 90s, and Cigarette Sandwich.


Workshop:
Improv to Sketch
Take the skills you've gained as an improviser and apply them to sketch writing. We'll explore techniques that enable you to harness and combine the spontaneity and discovery of improv with the pillars of good writing.

Ollie Hobson:
Bio:
Ollie Hobson has been studying and performing improv since 2010. He trained at iO Theater, Second City, and The Annoyance Theater. He has coached at iO, CiC, The Playground Theater, and with a variety of indie teams here in Chicago. Additionally, he has led multiple improv workshops across the country. He currently performs weekly with The Late 90's at LSI, Downpour at The Annoyance, and 3 Actors Living in a Cave.

Improvising within a scene

How to start scenes right away (before you’ve had a chance to get in your head!) and how to discover and expand on the characters you’ve created through their actions and point of view rather than just their words.

Katie Klein:
Bio:
Katie Klein was born and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio. After graduating from Indiana University, she moved to our nation's capital where she first fell in love with improv. She later moved to Chicago and trained at iO and Second City. She wrote and performed in two reviews on Second City's e.t.c stage. She currently performs improv weekly on Sunday nights with The Late 90’s at LSI, and on Thursdays at The Annoyance with Super Human. You can catch her in a few TV shows and commercials (The Red Line, Shrink, Joe Pera Talks with You, Chicago Justice, Work in Progress). She has worked for over ten years as a writer, facilitator, and designer of corporate communication training for different organizations; and loves it.

Discover the simple joy of yes and while being inspired by your scene partners and discovering what can happen when you follow the fun! With a focus on giving gifts, transformation edits, and group work, we will find that fun and see where it takes us!

John Sabine:
Bio:
John Sabine is a Chicago improviser who has performed with The Late 90s, The Improvised Shakespeare Company, and The Second City. He has taught at iO, Second City, and The Dallas Comedy House.

Learn how to make a simple montage feel more purposeful by honing your listening skills and increasing your rate of discovery within a scene.
