Description
Funny is a skill. You're about to get a lot better at it.

You've done the open mics. You've gotten laughs... and you've bombed.
Now it's time to stop winging it and start writing with intention.

This six-week class is for comedians who are serious about the craft: tightening their material, finding their voice, and walking onstage knowing their set is built to work.

We'll dig into:
Joke Architecture — How to structure setups and punchlines so the laugh lands exactly where you want it
Writing on Demand — Break through creative blocks and build a system for generating fresh material consistently
Why Audiences Laugh — The psychology behind what makes something actually funny so you can stop guessing and start engineering

You'll end the six weeks with a culminating class show with real stage time, real audience, your best material ready to go.

ABOUT RACHELLE COCHRAN
(She/Her)
Rachelle is a Portland comedian named one of Willamette Week's "Funniest 5" — a loud lesbian known for sharp writing, high-energy delivery, and zero apologies.
She's a regular host at Helium Comedy Club, co-hosts Comedy in the Park, and has performed at All Jane Comedy Festival and SF SketchFest.
She's a firm believer that funny is a skill, not a gift, and she's built a teaching practice around proving it. Her proudest career moment remains when her DoorDash driver told her she "didn't do too bad" at Helium's Funniest Person contest
