Registration opens Friday, October 16th at 7:00am!
You have all the nuts & bolts of improvising a song; now it's time to bring it to the next level! We'll work on bringing Broadway-level physicality and commitment to musical improv and finding the emotional core of a song that can really hook an audience. Along the way, we'll take a look at some iconic Broadway moments and see how we can learn to heighten our own musical theater storytelling and visual language.
Prerequisite: Completion of Intro to Musical Improv (weekly class or intensive)
About your teacher: Jeff Kimball is the Music Director of
The Understudies here at HVC, and has been teaching and performing musical improv across the Northeast since sometime in the previous millennium. He has MD'd for a wide variety of resident casts, indie teams, and other shows, in addition to music theatre. He is the co-founder of the
Treehouse Collective, an ensemble-based theatre company committed to producing infrequently performed projects. If you play your cards right, you might see him playing banjo and accordion unironically in public.
- Students must be 18+ years. (In actual years, not maturity.)
- Please note that once you make your purchase, your spot in the class is non-refundable unless we have 48 hours notice and we can get someone to fill your spot.
- For weekly classes, students must attend at least 6 out of 8 weeks to move onto the next level. Missing class due to the observance of a religious or cultural holiday will not count as an absence - please let us know if you're in this situation.
- Our classes may involve physical activity and we could be on our feet for at least an hour; however, we're able to accommodate for all physical abilities. Please email us to let us know how we can best fit your needs or if you have any questions about accommodations.
- Do you need help affording your next class or workshop? Check out The Fun Fund and email Scott ahead of time if you'd like to make a request!
