The Seagull
By Anton Chekhov
A new adaptation of Chekhov's The Seagull created by the cast and Instrumental Theatre Company. Working together as an ensemble, we will be adapting the text, creating original music, and finding unique ways for this to blend together and deepen the connection between audience and performers.
This site specific production takes place at The Berger Park North Mansion. Resting high on the shore of Lake Michigan, this 116 year old mansion in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood serves as our playing space in which artists and audience members will share the turn of the century beauty just inches away from each other. This immersive production invites audiences to see the action from their own unique vantage point as a fly on the wall of the historic home. Seeing as the play itself takes place in a lakeside estate, albeit in the Russian countryside, we couldn’t think of a more perfect place to stage this story in Chicago.
In an effort to ensure our work is accessible regardless of income status, Saturday September 13th's performance is Pay What You Can.
Content Advisory: The Seagull contains explicit reference and mention of suicide.
