What’s a meet cute? How about a harbinger of doom? And what the heck IS film noir anyways? Find out in this dynamic improv class taught by instructor, Dave Moore.

Students will learn the ins and outs of The Movie format, playing with editing, scene painting, genre-specific characters and story tropes, culminating in three dedicated performances at Curious Comedy Theater where they will bring their improvised films to life.
Whether you’re a casual movie-goer who doesn’t normally dive too deep into the how’s and why’s, or a film buff who wants to stretch their improv storytelling chops, this class is for you!

Genres we will likely cover: Western, Horror, RomComs, Noir, Dystopian, Fantasy, and possibly more!

 

All students will receive expert instruction on the genre and format, as well as coaching and feedback for three class performances at Curious Comedy Theater.

The class will include 7 class rehearsals and 3 performances with coaching at Curious Comedy Theater.

 

Dave took his first improv class in 2017 because he wanted to do something fun and scary, and quickly realized that improv provided so much more. He has dedicated himself to learning, playing and teaching every chance he gets. He started playing at Curious Comedy in 2022 and has been a member of the Gauntlet ensemble and Curious Comedy Showdown. He will likely hop into any improv group if invited, but can usually be seen playing with various indie teams around Portland. Dave 100% believes that improv can fix humanity, and is excited to help others discover, and find their voice in this art-form.
