Channel your inner Weird Al and get silly in this
four week class! We'll be improvising and writing parody songs while sharpening our comedic eye. We'll go a couple steps beyond basic songwriting, exploring questions like "what is the game of this song?" and "how far apart can two words be to still be treated like they rhyme?"
Your instructor,
Dan Reitz, previously taught parody songwriting at Sarah Lawrence College, and if that is not legitimate enough, check out this social media video:
Very Funny Parody Song Video
Week One will focus on improvising fun parody songs and studying the structure of some well-known songs
Week Two we will get deeper into basic songwriting theory and begin writing our own parody songs
Week Three will primarily be a workshop
Week Four will be an open door, casual performance of our songs for family and friends!
Priced as a 3-ish week class due to week four being mostly a performance!
Nice!
