Description
Learn the magic that is created by blending improv comedy and singing! In this class you'll learn the basics of singing improvised songs and adding improvised songs to your improv comedy scenes! Taught by one of the world's best musical improv comedy teachers.

Note: This class skips May 10 (Mother's Day)

Prerequisite: This course is for folks with at least some improv comedy experience. You do not have to be a great singer! Or a singer at all. However, at least some improv comedy experience is required for this class, and current enrollment in our Level One class is the minimum recommended experience for this class.

Instructor Bio: Dan Reitz is the founder and creative director of Buffalo Improv House and a 15 year veteran of musical improv comedy. Before the pandemic he was among the most in-demand improv comedy music directors and clinicians in New York City, teaching, performing and musical directing comedy shows seven days a week. He was the musical director or featured performer with several popular improv comedy shows, including the award-winning Your Love, Our Musical, Baby Wants Candy, and Blank! The Musical. He has been featured on multiple episodes of the Off Book: The Improvised Musical Podcast starring Zach Reino and Jessica McKenna, and is a frequent musical collaborator with Robert Smigel, writing and arranging music for the Adam Sandler/Robert Smigel movie Leo, music directing for Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, and currently working on a new project.

As the house music director at the People's Improv Theater, Dan was involved with dozens and dozens of musical comedy acts including their musical improv house teams, visiting artists, and scripted shows. As a faculty member & performer at the Magnet Theater, Dan was the primary understudy for the legendary Frank Spitznagel. He also performed weekly at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and monthly at Caveat NYC.

He taught improv comedy, musical comedy and comedy writing at Sarah Lawrence College and Princeton University, and remains an in-demand clinician and director, traveling the country to perform and teach musical improv comedy.

His other musical improv comedy credits include performances and workshops at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Annoyance Theater, ComedySportz NYC, the Williamstown Theater Festival, the SteelStacks Improv Festival, Comic Con NYC, and the New York Comedy Festival. Dan is an adjunct instructor of music at SUNY University at Buffalo.
