Music Improv One Week Summer Intensive – June 2026

This is a condensed version of iO’s three-level program intended as an immersive introduction to the genre of music improv. This weeklong intensive simulates what it’s like to be a student music improviser in the Chicago improv community, introduces the basics of musical long form improv and a thematic, singing from a character-perspective, and builds students’ confidence and self-sufficiency on stage all while giving them actionable, individualized feedback. This intensive is suitable for anyone interested in music improv, regardless of prior improv or musical experience.

Our week long summer intensive will meet June 8 - 12, 2026 from 11am-5pm, Monday through Fridaywith an hour break for lunch each day from 1:00-2:00pm.

Each session will culminate in a performance opportunity on the final evening of the intensive at 5:30pm

The program will cost $500. (Convenience fees are added for purchases made via credit card.
