Description
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Have fun, build self-confidence, discover your comedic voice, and make new friends in our Introduction to Improv class! In this six-week survey of the basic principles of long-form improv comedy, students will learn how to create improv scenes from scratch in a fun, fast-paced, and supportive environment. We'll explore core improv concepts such as agreement, heightening, and authenticity, and will deploy those concepts using techniques such as monologues, group games, and two-person scenes. The class will culminate in a showcase performance for friends and family at the Commodore in Ybor City. No previous experience necessary.

WHAT IF I NEED TO MISS A CLASS? CAN I STILL SIGN UP?
Short answer: yes! We offer concurrent Level One classes and other make-up opportunities along the way. We obviously prefer if everyone can come to all six classes, but if you know you will miss one (or think you might), don't let that stop you from signing up. You can get in touch with us at [email protected] if you have questions about this.

INSTRUCTOR BIO
Daniel Dagesse
discovered his love of improv after seeing the troupe Penguin Knife Fight at Tampa Bay Comic Con and thinking, “I want to do that!” Since 2018, he's performed across Florida (and a little beyond) with multiple teams, including the ensemble Deviled Eggs and duo troupes like Duo 17 and Duh-NANDA-daM.

Daniel trained under several respected Tampa Bay improvisers including Liz Marcucci and Danny Mora—teachers he now proudly joins at The Commodore. He also teaches and performs at Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota, where he leads weekly drop-in classes and performs in their Saturday night shows.

With experience working with groups of all sizes, Daniel brings energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for helping students feel confident and creative onstage. He’s excited to guide new improvisers at The Commodore, continuing the cycle of inspiration by turning “I want to do that” into “I’m doing it!”
