Welcome to Kill Your Ego! This is Faraway's weekly open mic variety show! Bring your funny idea, drop your name in the bucket, and if you're chosen, the stage is yours!

Kill Your Ego will be a safe place to try out something new and weird, whether that’s stand-up, character bits, or something completely different—anything goes!

Here' s some questions you may have:

Can you explain the buckets?
  • There are two buckets at our box office desk
    • The Solo Bucket  - if your name gets drawn from the solo bucket you get no more than 5 minutes to perform
    • The Group Bucket - your name gets drawn from the group bucket you get no more than 8 minutes to perform
  • Get to Faraway at least 10 minutes early and put your name in the bucket!
  • The host will pull roughly 8 names from the Solo Bucket and 4 names from the Group Bucket throughout the night and those folks will get their stage time.
What if my name doesn't get drawn?
  • You don't get to go on stage that night, but you've supported local comedy, so thank you!
  • Additionally, your name stays in the bucket for the next KYE show thus increasing your chances for next week's show, and you've supported local comedy, so thank you!
Could you tell me more about what I'm allowed to do on stage.
  • Sure!
  • The aim of this show is for you to try something comedic in nature that you've never done in front of a crowd before.
  • For Solo, things like stand-up, character bits, clown, story telling, juggling, ventriloquism, or really anything where you are making an attempt at 'humor' is welcomed and encouraged!
  • For Group things like improv, sketch, clown, or really anything where you and at least another person are making an attempt at 'humor' is welcomed and encouraged!
  • Faraway is a very welcoming stage, and we want to create a stage where people feel free to express themselves comedically, but if you're interested in using slurs and/or talking down to or 'making fun' of marginalized folks, find another stage.
