Thursday is the festival's opening night. The night builds toward SURPRISE SURPRISE, HighWire Improv's roving game show that turns the audience into contestants, with two different opening acts.

The Great Pipicolini
The Great Pipicolini was born from the question, “Just how far can I take the tiniest, stupidest idea possible?” The show begins with a single red pipe cleaner and bends and twists through lifetimes of adventure, romance, and chaos. Acrobatics! Slow dancing! Birth! Death! Birth! Clown, puppetry, and craft come together in a story that’s wild and surprisingly heartfelt for cocktail and juice box crowds alike.

Septar
Septar performs sketch comedy. They write their material, rehearse, and try to crack each other up. With eleven people with backgrounds in improv, stand up, theater, and writing credits in the Onion and Hard Times, they're a mind meld of comic voices and want to bring you in on the joke.

Surprise Surprise
Surprise Surprise is the game show where no one knows the rules until the game is over. See your favorite performers try to score points without knowing what they're being judged on.

About the Swear Jar Jamboree
The Swear Jar Jamboree is Philadelphia's indie comedy + improv playground, four days at The Proscenium Theatre at the Drake (with additional workshop space at Plays & Players Theatre) running July 9–12, 2026.

We curate every show, act, workshop, and event ourselves and aim to bring together people from all over the US and across multiple comedy varieties. Throughout the festival you'll get main stage shows, community jams, and festival pass holders will get access to additional optional gatherings including an open mic.
