Bring home the biggest day of the festival with the biggest show yet! Swear Jar hits the stage with our friends and yours, Local Spot, and Barko! Barko takes home the evening's programming with a few special guests of their own: BOC and Jacque Arend!
Swear Jar • Philadelphia, PA
Swear Jar takes an idea from the audience and uses it to give voices to ridiculous characters, objects, and sometimes even each other, all the while calling attention to the oddest aspects of everyday life. They never know where they're going or where they'll end up. Watch the chaos as they figure it out.
Local Spot • Baltimore, MD
Local Spot has been dedicated to the monoscene format for its entire decade of existence. Unlike most other improv formats, their show takes place entirely in one location, at one time, with no edits, jumps, cuts, or other improv trickery. Performers are forced to live with the decisions they’ve made for the entire show without the ability to escape in an edit. Expect a character- and emotion-driven show in which anything can happen, and the improvisers have to deal with it. Our opening has an audience volunteer picking a color from a paint swatch book and painting the scene inspired by the name of the paint color (always fun and evocative). Like many monoscenes, our shows are heavily character driven, but Local Spot is unique in how we use frequent entrances and exits to create monoscenes that at the same time are fun, fast-paced, and have compelling narratives. Secrets come out, alliances are made and broken, and someone usually falls in love. It’s always a compelling rollercoaster!
Barko & Friends • Philadelphia, PA
BARKO weaves improvised comedy from nothing to a twisted end. Award-winning physical theater artist Nick Gillette, martial artist/philosopher Pim Van, and polymath clown/writer Sam Miller. Finding laughter in the everyday, this show highlights organic discovery and inspired action. BARKO is slapstick at the speed of life. PLUS FRIENDS!
