Description
Curious about stand-up comedy but not sure where to start? Nervous about public speaking, or just ready to try something new? This class is for you. Over six weeks, you’ll find your comedic voice and build a polished five-minute stand-up set, culminating in a final performance.
Classes are taught primarily in a performance-and-critique format, supported by short lectures to introduce key concepts. You’ll learn the fundamentals of stand-up writing, editing, memorization, and performance through repetition and practice. Outside of class, you’ll develop material on your own, then bring it in to test, refine, and strengthen on your feet. Weekly open “free form” time allows space for questions and individualized guidance.
By the end of the course, you’ll perform a solid five-minute set in a class show and, more importantly, have the tools to confidently step into the world of stand-up comedy.
