Our 8-week Intro to Improv course is more than just comedy; it’s an adventure in creativity, connection, and confidence. Whether you are brand-new or brushing up on the basics, you will learn to think on your feet, embrace the unexpected, and turn mistakes into gifts.
Through games, scenes, and plenty of laughter, you will discover how improv can sharpen your listening, unlock your imagination, and help you let go of the inner critic holding you back. No scripts, no pressure. We just offer a welcoming space to play, learn, and surprise yourself.
Dates: January 12 - March 2 (every Monday)
Time: 7:00 - 9:0 PM
Location: Blue Door Theatre 319 S Cedar St.
Course Instructor: Jake Foerg
Jake Foerg started doing improv as a teenager, going through the classes at the Blue Door Theatre. After moving to the west side of the state to study theater, he participated in The Dead Parrots Society, The PETER Comedy Trio, The Upfront Theater, The Deep End Theater, and The Bandit Theater. On top of that, Jake has been part of countless small improv troupes, has attended many improv festivals, and has served as a writer and an actor for non-improv theater companies. He has been teaching improv to adults, teens, and youth for over a decade, and finds deep joy and fulfillment in doing so.
What are previous students saying?
"Learning improv at the Blue Door was a delightful, fun, and frankly therapeutic experience. The class was well worth my time and money - I heartily recommend Blue Door Improv to anyone and everyone!"
- Nicky
"It was wonderful! We definitely learned vocabulary, methods, techniques, etc., but in a way that was fun and activity/game based not in a way that was sucky and boring :)"
"Clarissa was very clear, specific and professional with the class. Excellent job. I loved that we were using every single minute of our time there learning. There was no wasted time. Goofballs, all ya all!" - Amy
