Participation Waiver and Release of Liability. I assume all risks of participating in activities at Sawubona Creativity Project (1626 E. Passyunk Ave, #1 Philadelphia Pa 19148), including improv and theatre arts workshops, classes, or events. This includes any risks arising from negligence, defective equipment, or property conditions. I certify I am physically fit and have no health issues preventing participation. I release and discharge Sawubona Creativity Project, its directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from liability for any injury, death, or property damage arising from my participation. I agree not to sue and to indemnify them against claims related to my participation. I acknowledge potential risks, including those due to terrain, weather, equipment, and participant actions, and consent to any necessary medical treatment. This waiver is intended to be as comprehensive as allowed by law. Media Release. I grant permission to Sawubona Creativity Project (“Media”) to use my image, or that of my child/children, in photographs or videos for media purposes, including videos, email, newsletters, publications, websites, and affiliates. I waive any right to inspect or approve the final media and any rights to royalties or compensation for its use. I am 18 years or older and fully understand this release. I may submit questions in writing before signing, and failure to do so is acceptance of the terms. Code Of Conduct & Anti-Harassment Policy Scope. This policy applies to all individuals associated with the Sawubona Creativity Project, including contractors, vendors, teachers, coaches, performers, students, and other community members. It addresses discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, and retaliation, ensuring a safe and respectful environment. The policy outlines prohibited conduct, consequences for violations, and the complaint process, emphasizing confidentiality for all involved parties. Objectives. Sawubona Creativity Project is committed to maintaining a professional, respectful, and inclusive environment. Discrimination or harassment by or toward any community member will not be tolerated. This policy is enforced at all levels, including management, the board, and community leaders. Violators are subject to progressive discipline, up to and including termination of employment, contract termination, or removal from the community. Mutual Respect. To foster a strong community, we: Use inclusive language and honor pronouns. Ask for consent before physical contact in any setting. Speak only to our own experiences and avoid assuming those of others. Artist Education and Performance. Sawubona Creativity Project educates and nurtures artists in theatre arts, including improv, playwriting, acting, and storytelling. Artistic expression may involve bold narratives, including fictional elements. While guidelines protect performers from unwanted contact or triggering material, complaints about content within performances will be treated separately from discrimination or harassment allegations occurring in non-performance settings. Equal Employment Opportunity. Sawubona Creativity Project provides equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, genetic information, or any other legally protected characteristic. Sexual Harassment. Sexual harassment is illegal under federal, state, and local laws. It includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that: Is a condition of employment or participation. Influences employment or participation decisions. Creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment. Examples include unwanted advances, sexual jokes, leering, touching, or displaying sexually suggestive material. Sawubona Creativity Project enforces a zero-tolerance policy for violence, resulting in immediate expulsion of responsible parties. Harassment. Harassment based on any protected characteristic is strictly prohibited. It includes verbal, written, or physical conduct that: Creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment. Interferes with work, performance, or educational goals. Negatively impacts employment or educational opportunities. Examples include slurs, threats, intimidation, denigrating jokes, and inappropriate materials distributed in person or digitally. Relationships. Sawubona Creativity Project prohibits romantic or sexual relationships where one party holds a position of influence over another (e.g., teachers and students, directors and performers, managers and staff). Pre-existing relationships must be disclosed to prevent conflicts of interest. Individuals Covered. This policy applies to all applicants, contractors, students, volunteers, and performers, regardless of whether the misconduct is committed by another community member or an external party. If a violation is found, appropriate corrective action, including termination or removal from the community, will be taken. Retaliation. False or malicious complaints may also result in disciplinary measures. Code Of Conduct & Anti-Harassment Reporting Procedure If any community member believes a situation could potentially violate SCP Code of Conduct/Anti Harassment policy or the law, or a situation has made them feel uncomfortable, they should confidentially report the situation to a SCP leadership team member. This initial communication may occur in writing. However, for a report to be officially filed the community member will need to participate in a confidential conversation with SCP staff to ensure appropriate documentation. It is SCP responsibility to make every effort to protect the reporting community members' privacy and honor their wishes, although SCP cannot guarantee complete confidentiality. Investigation Process. Any community member who makes a report may be asked for more detailed information to aid in the understanding and support of the investigation. These questions are voluntary but the more accurate information provided, the more effectively the situation can be addressed. During this discussion, the community member may be asked what resolution they would like to see. Based on this discussion, the community member’s wishes and SCP's responsibilities under applicable policies and laws, SCP will take the necessary steps to address the situation fairly and lawfully. Investigation. SCP in conjunction with other relevant resources within or working on behalf of SCP, may investigate the situation as deemed appropriate. This may include speaking with individuals mentioned in the report, including alleged perpetrators, observers, and those who may have been affected by the situation. Each investigation will vary based on factors such as the nature of the report, available evidence, severity, and the likelihood of recurrence. Following the investigation, SCP will determine the appropriate next steps and maintain necessary documentation. Action. When appropriate, SCP in consultation with the staff attorney, will recommend corrective action against relevant parties. The community member will be informed, to an appropriate extent, about the actions taken or planned. In some cases, actions may not be based solely on the initial report but also on additional information uncovered during the investigation. Follow-Up. SCP is committed to ensuring a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all community members. SCP will follow up with the community member(s) to provide updates and support as needed.
