This Improv for Anxiety workshop provides a safe space for you to share your generosity with others, practice letting go, take bold risks, and most of all, fail spectacularly and live to laugh about it. Participants will learn the fundamentals of improvisation: saying yes, making your partners look good, and developing active listening for greater perspective, empathy, and social-emotional intelligence. By embracing openness, playfulness, curiosity, exploration, and discovery, you can reduce negative self-talk, and promote your compassion and creativity. The "rules" of improvisation promote mutual agreement and support, and the development of trust and confidence; learning these skills builds self-acceptance, pro-social behaviors, and mindfulness techniques to regulate your nervous system! We'll play games to engage right and left sides of the brain, practice active listening, develop creative tools for communication and understanding. This class is not intended as a replacement for psychotherapy, but provides a collaborative and fun opportunity to practice applying skills for symptom management and awareness. Prior experience with improv is NOT required.
This 2-hour workshop is limited to 15 participants, and led by a Nationally Certified Counselor (Licensed in Ohio and Illinois) who also happens to have over 20 years experience in studying, performing, and teaching improvisation.
