Big Brain Comedy is dedicated to allowing improvisers, actors, and performers to express their ideas, showcase their talents, and play. We provide a space for creative people to connect, collaborate, and bring their artistic visions to life, no matter how ridiculous. In fact, the more ridiculous the better. Contact us, or join us at a show to see how you can get involved.
The Short Straw is an improv team hailing from Mettlesome Theater in Durham, NC. Known for their quick wit and playful chemistry, the team takes audiences on unpredictable journeys through The Harold—a legendary format and the cornerstone of long-form improv. With each performance, they weave together characters, themes, and stories that start small but spiral into hilarious, unexpected connections.
But Of Mind, inspired by The Twilight Zone, brings a distinctive blend of psychological tension, paranormal mystery, and vintage TV atmosphere. Placing ordinary characters into extraordinary, often unsettling situations, unfolding live, unscripted, and in the style of the golden age of television. Each performance blends supernatural elements, social commentary, and a touch of existential irony, echoing Rod Serling’s trademark storytelling.
