In this course, our students will use all the knowledge and skills from their improv studies to create their own improv show, influenced by The Harold and the other long-form structures covered in our curriculum. Students will work to build a show that highlights their strengths as a team. By practicing and tweaking their form they will be able to graduate with a show that is truly original.

The course will be held at Fallout Theater, located at 616 Lavaca St in downtown Austin, and will consist of 8 weekly classes on Thursdays from 6:30pm-8:30pm and a class show/graduation ceremony. Students who complete Improv 501 are eligible to audition for Fallout Theater house teams and enroll in advanced elective classes.

ABOUT THE TEACHER
Virgil Shelby (they/them) is an actor, comedian, and improviser based in Austin, TX. They are one of the owners of Fallout Theater in downtown Austin, where they teach improv comedy to the up-and-coming generations of Austin creatives. They are a member of award winning troupes Y'all We Asian and Hot Pot Comedy and have performed in countless shows including Psychosphere, Statues, the original play Decapitations, the web-series Butterbean, and the films Ultimate World and Night on Sixth. Offstage, Virgil can be found in the parking lot befriending stray cats.
