Embark on a laughter-filled journey with our exhilarating seven-week class, "Game and Pattern." This course is meticulously designed for experienced improvisers (have completed 2 levels of improv training), aiming to illuminate the foundational principles of improv comedy through the lenses of game and pattern. Each week, you'll dive deep into the heart of what makes improv scenes spontaneously hilarious, beginning with the basics of game and pattern recognition. You'll explore how these elements serve as the comedic engine of a scene, allowing players to delve into the intricate relationships between their characters and the absurd situations they encounter. Through a series of engaging exercises, you'll practice identifying and heightening comedic patterns, gradually building up your improvisational prowess.
As the weeks progress, you'll master the art of spotting and leaning into the unusual elements of a scene, developing the keen eye necessary to establish and drive the game. With lessons on logical heightening, supporting the game, and even breaking and rebuilding patterns for comedic effect, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of how to create and sustain humor. By the end of the course, you'll be well-versed in techniques like "If-Then Logic," "Tag Runs," and "Controlled Chaos," ready to apply these skills in polished performances. This class is more than just a series of lessons; it's a vibrant, interactive experience that promises to elevate your improv game to new heights, culminating in a showcase where you'll get to demonstrate your newfound expertise. Join us in "Game and Pattern" for seven weeks of creativity, collaboration, and endless laughter. There will be a free showcase performance for friends and family on Sunday evening, November 1st.
