This course is an introduction to the basic concepts of "long-form improv" comedy, a unique art form where you'll learn to create live comedy on the spot with your scene partners. While improv classes are great for actors/comedians looking to stretch their creative muscles, you will also find that a good mix of people take Improv 101 to feel more confident in public speaking, to work on active listening, to meet new friends, and to become an overall more effective communicator.
No matter your performance experience or your ultimate goal, this class is a great way to try something fun, new, and exciting in a supportive group environment. The skills you learn in this class will transfer into your personal and professional life, for real!
Skills such as...
- Being present in the moment
- Creating on the spot
- Supporting the group's ideas
- Listening before responding
The course will be held at
Fallout Theater, located at 616 Lavaca St in downtown Austin, and will consist of
8 weekly classes on Tuesdays from 6:30pm-8:30pm and a
class show for your friends and family. Students who complete Improv 101 are eligible to enroll in Improv 201.
