Join us for a 7-week Fundamentals Improv Class where you'll learn the art of improvisation through engaging and diverse exercises. In the first week, you'll dive into the core principles of "Yes, And," practicing CROW (Character, Relationship, Objective, Where) and honing your skills with 3 Line scenes and conflict Scenes. As you progress, you'll develop characters through emotional choices and character walks, explore relationships in-depth by endowing characters with specific traits, and practice creating strong, dynamic scenes. Exercises like pantomime and scene painting will enhance your ability to work with objects and environment, while longform improvisation techniques will teach you how to smoothly transition between scenes with sweeps and tag outs.
In the latter weeks, you'll delve into the intricacies of maintaining relationships in scenes, heightening comedic elements through the "First Weird Thing" exercise, and experimenting with the La Ronde format for interconnected scenes. After the final week, you'll be ready to showcase your newfound skills in a graduation performance, applying all that you've learned about character creation, relationships, object work, and longform improvisation. This class promises to be a fun, creative, and enriching journey, perfect for anyone looking to unleash their inner improviser and shine on stage.
