Game and Premise
This two-day class will distill the concepts at the core of the UCB curriculum—it’s UCB training in a bottle! It’s highly recommended that you take both days, but if that’s not possible they also work as stand-alone classes.
On day one, you’ll learn about “the game of the scene”. You’ll practice quickly identifying games, landing on the same page as your scene partner, and exploring and heightening in a simple and satisfying way. You’ll also learn the most common game-based character dynamics and how to use them to sustain your scenes.
On day two, you’ll learn the distinction between game and premise, then practice pulling premises from various source material. You’ll also learn techniques for initiating (and responding to) premises in a way that maximizes fun for you and the audience, and gets your scenes off and running from the very start!
