Description
Our "Mini Cycle" runs Wednesday July 30th to Wednesday August 20th! Join us for FOUR, two-hour classes to begin or re-anchor your improv journey.
This weekly Wednesday night Foundations Level Class series is geared for students from all backgrounds, both creative and non-creative. That means no acting or performing skills are required, just a desire to have fun, trust your instincts, and learn new ways to communicate and collaborate!
Through participation you'll learn that the meditative art of Improvisation is a powerful and joyous way to learn new life skills. There's a reason the word "play" is in our name! Play is at the root of how we continue to learn new skills as adults.
WHEN: WEDNESDAY nights, 7-9pm beginning July 30th COST: $200 + platform fees AGES: Suitable for ages 15+ PREREQUISITES: None! Beginners are welcome! Our fun & engaging classes are geared toward anyone new to the practice of improvisation as well as for those who'd like to re-learn or continue to practice the basics of the art form.
Together, we'll learn:
How to use various kinds of listening
How to stay in the moment
How to spontaneously tell a story with others
How to think on our feet & trust our instincts
How to quickly collaborate with others
How to learn and use non-verbal communication
How to discover & overcome our social/emotional "blind spots"
How playing with others allows us to discover our strengths
OUR CLASSES ARE CAPPED AT 10 PARTICIPANTS! Fewer students = more personalized feedback and time to work.
Why Take Classes With Us?
Our studio is founded on the belief that student progress only comes by providing clear instruction and feedback. We not only want our students learn the core skills of improvisation, but we also want them to improve their skills over their time with us. Because of that, we offer learning opportunities that students won't find anywhere else.
All of our students will receive the following:
A safe, nurturing, and supportive environment
10 students max per class so each gets lots of attention
Although not for this mini-cycle, we offer flexible class options so students can purchase the number of classes that suits their schedule
Coaching and check-ins during & after each game to help make sure you've understood the breakthroughs
Blackboard discussions during class when necessary to help visual and analytical learners
Closing every class with students recognizing their own wins
Participating - for those that wish! - in our student showcases
Receiving and reviewing vids & pics from our showcase as keepsakes and learning tools
Receiving highly personalized notes via email from your teacher celebrating your wins during the class series & recommending skills to work on when you come back for another class with us
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Natasha Von Salza After ten years of working and studying in Sweden, Natasha returned to the US, to seek transformation through creative art. She studied improvisation under Mary Pat McCoy at Change Through Play, before going on to study under its Founder, David Koff. She remains in David’s Advanced Lab series, where she continues to study, develop, and refine her long-form improvisation practice and knowledge.
Natasha’s focus in the art and practice of improvisation is “Walking into the unknown”. The joy and freedom that comes as a result of that focus makes her a perfect fit to teach our Foundations level. Natasha’s kind spirit and playful demeanor invites continual growth, laughter, and excellence from all participants.
RAMP: We've got ADA ramps for access into all buildings.
TRI-MET: The 54 Bus stops 100 yards from our front door.
