In 2010, the Comedians with Disabilities Act was assembled in Northern California to represent a comedic perspective that had long been ignored. Since then, the troupe has taken many forms and performed for thousands of laughing audiences of all abilities—at colleges, comedy clubs, corporate events, and the occasional dive bar. 

They bring their show to the Curious Comedy Theater for one night to raise money for their upcoming comedy docu-special, Comedians with Disabilities Act: Going Beyond the Punchlines. The movie highlights 10 comedians with a variety of disabilities, four of which are coming to Curious Comedy Theater. They include co-headliners and authors Nina G and Loren Kraut with Mean Dave (host), Serena Gamboa and special guest Milt Abel.

About Nina G:

Nina G is a comedian, professional speaker, comedy historical consultant and author of Stutterer Interrupted: The Comedians Who Almost Didn't Happen,  Bay Area Stand-Up Comedy: A Humorous History. Her first special, Nina G: Stutterer Interrupted debuted in 2024. Nina has been featured in/on everything from HuffPost's Culture Shifters, Variety, NPR's 51%,BBC's Ouch, Psychology Today, Tedx, PBS radio and multiple day time talk shows and podcasts.  Nina shares her wit and wisdom with corporations, colleges, conferences, and community events. She is a sought after headliner as well as keynote speaker.

About Loren Kraut:

Loren Kraut is a writer and comedian in San Francisco. She has performed in SF Sketchfest, Cyprus International Comedy Festival, Savage Henry Comedy Fest, SheDot Festival, Lysistrata Comedy Festival, Mutiny Radio Comedy Festival, HIGHlarious Comedy festival and The World Series of Comedy. She hosts a monthly show “Draw & Guffaw” where the audience draws the comics. Her solo show "A Bit Touched" won Best Comedy at the Tucson Fringe Festival 2018. She created “LOL Little Old Lesbian” on Instagram, and “Giraffe Corner” where stuffed giraffes have therapy. She lives with her cat, Scout, and an unprecedented number of giraffes.

About Mean Dave:

Comedian Mean Dave has opened for many notable comedians like Josh Blue, Big Jay Oakerson, and Jay Mohr, and has performed at colleges across the US. Mean Dave’s role in the Comedians with Disabilities Act helps to bring his critical message about addiction and disabilities to audiences around the world. 

About Serena Gamboa:

Serena Gamboa (“The Spicy Latina”) was born and raised in the Central Valley. She is a three-time winner of the Modesto Area Music Award for “Best Comedy” in 2018, 2021, and 2023—the first comedian to win three MAMA Awards. Her show Comedy For Vets was featured on MYTV26 in 2018. Serena was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2014 and uses her comedy to raise awareness about the condition. She has opened for Alex Raymundo, Joey Medina, JP Sears, Mike E. Winfield, Nikki Carr, and the late Kabir Singh.

About Milt Abel:

A stand-up comedian with over forty years of professional experience, Milt has  performed everywhere from television to cruise ships, from comedy clubs and college  campuses to corporate events ranging in audience size of twenty to two thousand.  After a B.A. degree in drama Milt went right into a stand-up career and never looked  back. He’s made numerous television appearances; several performances on An Evening  At The Improv, and comedy specials for PBS and Showtime, and regularly performs for cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Holland America, and Princess.

Parking
Curious has free parking the lot behind the theater between MLK and Garfield. There is also ample street parking on Emerson, Sumner, and Garfield.

The Curious Annex has a small selection of beer, wine, cider and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.
