This FREE workshop explores clowning as a path to self-discovery, emotional expression, and personal growth. Through improvisation, play, laughter, and the courage to be ridiculous, participants are invited to let go of judgment, challenge their insecurities, and reconnect with their authentic selves.
Clowning is not about being funny, entertaining others, or performing a character. It is about having the courage to be seen as we are: imperfect, vulnerable, emotional, and human.
Through playful exercises and shared experiences, we learn to embrace our mistakes, find freedom in embarrassment, and discover that our vulnerabilities are not weaknesses to hide, but parts of ourselves we can learn to accept with pride.
The goal is not to force happiness or pretend everything is okay. It is to create a space where we can be honest with our emotions, laugh at ourselves with kindness, connect with others, and feel comfortable being who we truly are.
Because the goal isn't to be happy all the time. It's to be free enough to be yourself.
INSTRUCTOR: RODRIGO CUYARodrigo was part of
Sonrisa Seria in Peru, a clown collective. There, he took workshops, became a clown guide for newer groups, and did a lot of social work and street events. When he moved to the United States, he designed and taught a workshop in Brooklyn.
BONUS CONTENT: We are launching a brand-new, late-night comedy cafe (working title) pop-up in the lobby the same night! The pop-up will feature coffee drinks, pastries, and desserts. If anyone has a cozy armchair, vintage side table, rug, or warm floor lamp they'd love to donate or loan us,
let us know! The doors to the cafe will open at 6:00pm, so you'll have an opportunity to come early, meet folks, and enjoy a hot beverage (or a cold one; we have beer, wine, and N/A drinks).
