THE TOKYO TRAIL — a tour of matcha from Tokyo's best tea shops

In August we walked through the streets of Uji, the small town south of Kyoto where matcha has been made for centuries. Now we're doing the same in Tokyo.

On Sunday, October 11th, Matcha Club takes the Tokyo Trail. We'll taste matcha from some of Tokyo's best tea shops.

The Time: Two identical sessions on Sunday, October 11th: 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Each runs about two hours and both cover the same ground, so pick whichever works for you.

The Place: West Town, near Ashland & Division, a short walk from the Blue Line's Division stop. We'll send the exact address to ticket holders before the day.

The Plan: We start with a short open Q&A about anything matcha or tea related, so bring your questions. Then we hit the trail, shop by shop, bowl by bowl.

A few quick notes:
  • We'll be tasting a good amount of matcha. If you're sensitive to caffeine, please eat beforehand. We try to have a few snacks on hand, but you're welcome to bring anything you need.
  • Nothing to bring except your questions. If you have questions about your home setup or tools, feel free to bring those along too.
  • Dress is casual. Our meetups are relaxed and we like it that way. Photos are fine, but please respect the privacy of others, and no livestreaming.
  • We'll be outdoors on a rooftop, so dress warm enough in case it's a little chilly or windy.
