In this class you’ll dive deeper into the Kickstand Improv philosophy and start thinking critically about improv, all while learning new techniques to make rich and collaborative comedy.
We’ll dig deeper into “why” things are funny to us, how to develop and heighten comedic ideas as a team, and build trust and connection with your classmates on and off stage

ABOUT NICHOLLE ORTIZ
She Her
Nicholle’s love language is silliness. In improv she’s found a space to be silly, channel her inner child and play with others. She believes comedy and improv aren’t just about performing, they actually help us be better participants in life. If you can be an active listener on stage, you can be an active listener for your partner. If you can communicate your needs in a scene then you can communicate your needs to your coworkers. And if you can see the humor in the mundane, life becomes a little more magical.
While new to improv, she has been performing in some way or another for most of her life. From fighting to be The Angel of the Lord at 4 years old in a church play, to acting in a Sex and the City/Seinfeld crossover backyard play, she now regularly performs with her BIPOC improv groups “Brown Sugar” and “The Jessicas” on stages across Portland.
When Nicholle is not at Kickstand or doing improv, she’s probably at a bar with friends, an art market, thrifting or watching 80’s movies with her partner and cats.
