Get your feet wet by finding the fun in the spontaneity and collaboration of improvisation. Whether you’re looking for a fun way to improve your teamwork and communication skills or are serious about developing your voice as a comedic performer, this class equally honors both of these goals (and might even push you to expand those goals). Students will learn the power of agreement, honesty, and spontaneity to build a successful scene and have fun doing it!

Kickstand's BIPOC improv track is currently a free / pay what you will affinity class through Level 3. After that, students pay full price (or apply for a scholarship) for Level 4, 5 & for Advanced Study in our general program, where students can learn and apply their skills to different formats. Each week of class builds on the previous one, and each Level builds on the Level before.
*Level 1 includes 6 weeks of instruction with 2.5 hours of instruction each week!

Eric Simons is a writer, improviser, teacher, and producer originally from the Land of 10,000 Lakes, who has been swimming in Portland rivers since 2015. He has gathered over 20 years of comedy experience from all corners of the contiguous United States (and THREE CANADIAN PROVINCES). He currently uses all that world weary experience with his group Mosaic Improv and as a teacher with Kickstand’s BIPOC Comedy Program.
