Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be forced to perform alone?

No! Improv is collaborative, and most activities are done with a partner, a small group, or the whole class. You won’t be expected to carry an entire scene by yourself, and we build toward performing gradually in a supportive environment.

What if I’m shy or anxious?

That’s completely okay! Many students feel nervous before their first improv class. Level 1 helps you ease in through simple, playful group activities in a supportive, low-pressure environment. You won’t be expected to be naturally outgoing, instantly funny, or have all the answers. We’ll build skills and confidence together, one step at a time.

Do I have to be funny?

Not at all! Improv isn’t about preparing jokes or trying to be the funniest person in the room. The humor comes naturally from listening, committing to the moment, and building something unexpected with your scene partners. You may discover that you’re funnier than you realized!

Is the showcase mandatory?

Absolutely not. If you don’t want to participate in the final showcase, you’re welcome to sit it out.

Can friends and family attend the showcase?

Definitely! Friends and family are welcome to come celebrate and see what the class has created.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move safely.

Where do I park?

Parking is available in front of Lex Comedy Co. Students and patrons may also park in the lot directly across Allendale Drive.
