You are a unique person with a unique perspective. So, how can you bring more of that wonderfully unique “You” to your improv?
In this workshop, we’ll focus on embracing the things that make you “you” to create stronger, more specific, and more unique choices that strengthen your scenes and your characters. It will feature lessons inspired by Chicago’s Annoyance Theatre, whose training philosophy centers around taking care of yourself, and realizing that by taking care of yourself, you are taking care of others.

You’ll learn about:
- Playing with courage, embracing all of yourself and sharing it with comfort and confidence
- Celebrating the silly and the absurd
- Honoring your scene partners’ choices and building a world together that is grounded in your shared reality
Prerequisite: Any performance experience improvising for an audience (Community Comedy Night, class showcase, etc)
About Your Teacher: Ben Larrison is an actor, writer, and longtime improviser who thinks you look very nice today. Ben is a former member of the Second City National Touring Company, the Annoyance Theatre, and iO Chicago. His work has landed on numerous Best Of lists and been featured in places like Slate, USA Today, the Chicago Tribune, Thrillist, and Vice. You can currently see Ben in the HVC show Playlist.
- Students must be 18+ years. (In actual years, not maturity.)
- Please note that once you make your purchase, your spot in the class is non-refundable unless we have 48 hours notice and we can get someone to fill your spot.
- Our classes may involve physical activity and we could be on our feet for at least an hour; however, we're able to accommodate for all physical abilities. Please email us to let us know how we can best fit your needs or if you have any questions about accommodations.
