Building on the foundations of basic sketch writing, Kickstand's Advanced Sketch Academy is here to help transform your sketch writing from good to great with expert guidance and actionable skills that are used in professional writer's rooms. In this course, we will take a magnifying glass to sketch comedy and examine different ways to explore "the game of the scene."  Discover how to write character-based scenes and genres of sketches in various styles, for the stage and for video. This class focuses on finding fun, and developing your voice as a writer. It's perfect for anyone looking to level up their sketch writing!

ABOUT ZACK POITRAS
(He/Him)
Zack Poitras is a recently returned Portland native who has been doing comedy for twenty years. He wrote for and performed on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, The Kids Tonight Show, and made a comedy-science show for HBO Max and Discovery that he also co-starred in called High Science. Before that he was head writer of Funny or Die, a writer for The Onion, and taught sketch, performed and directed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theaters in New York City and Los Angeles. He’s got a great wife, kids, dog, and cat. In his free time he makes lamps where the on/off switch is a urinal flush lever.
