Advanced Character Creation
This class will provide the space to create new characters or hone previous ones. Students are encouraged to bring their existing work or half-formed ideas for new characters. Covering the principles taught in the intro course, Advanced Characters will also discuss the principles of performing Characters for the digital space. From the page, to the stage!
Some character experience is recommended; advanced clown, sketch or improv training necessary. (Level 3 at Finest City Improv)

Teacher Bio:
Cory Peter Lane is a writer, actor and comedian based in Los Angeles. You can see him on Netflix as the beer chugging lumberjack in Stamptown, for which he also served as writer and producer. His sketch trio, Business Casual, has a podcast on the All Things Comedy Network and they recently released their self produced comedy special COWBOYS! available to watch on Youtube. He studied clown in LA and NYC as well as in Etampes, France with the late Philippe Gaulier. He got his start in comedy at Finest City Improv at the ripe old age of 16.
Student Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older to enroll.
- Students under 21 cannot participate in shows, as the venue is 21+.
General Class Policies (Core Classes & Electives)
- Classes require a minimum of 8 students.
- Instructor(s) may change as needed.
- Advancement to the next level requires attendance at 5 of 7 classes.
- One make-up class is available for Level 1 and Level 2 students only.
- Students may repeat any of our core courses (Level 1-6b) at a 30% discount, if space permits.
Tuition Policy
- Tuition is non-refundable.
- Tuition may be credited toward a future session with at least 2 weeks’ notice before the current start date.
- Credits are valid for up to 6 months.
