30 hours. 30 years. A whole lot of improv.
The Blue Door Theatre is celebrating its 30th anniversary with one of our biggest and possibly most absurd events ever: 30 straight hours of improv!
For 30 hours, our stages will be filled with improv featuring Blue Door players, special teams, friends from the improv community, students, alumni, and more. Expect different formats, different performers, late-night weirdness, early-morning delirium, and plenty of moments that could only happen during 30 continuous hours of making things up.
And no, you do not have to stay for all 30 hours! Come for a show, stay for a few hours, leave and come back, or challenge yourself to see just how much improv you can handle. Your ticket gives you access to the Improvathon throughout the event.
The 30-Hour Challenge: Do you want to try and watch all 30 hours. Here is the deal, for the 30 hours, you must stay in the theatre and there is no napping. We will provide lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday, plus snacks and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the two days. The cost is $90. If you make it through, you will earn yourself a T-shirt that says I Stayed for the Whole Darn Thing. 30-Hour Improvathon.
The Improvathon is part of our year-long celebration of 30 years of the Blue Door Theatre and the thousands of performers, students, audience members, staff, volunteers, and supporters who have been part of our story.
Want to Perform?
We want the Improvathon to showcase the incredible improv community that has grown around the Blue Door. If you have an improv team and would like to perform during the 30 hours, submit your team for consideration. We'll be filling performance slots throughout the entire event—yes, including some very late and very early ones!
