Improvised Old Time Radio with Live Foley
Saturday, October 10
2-4pm
Max tickets: 12
Pre-req: At least one to two years of improv experience is recommended as there will not be time to teach scene work and the group will be jumping right into the unique experience of performing in the ‘live radio broadcast’ form we have created.
Instructors: Eric Pedersen, Chuck Cotterman, Ashley Whitehurst
Enter the era of the 1930s and 40s by joining some of the cast and crew of the Improvised Golden Age of Radio for a unique improv workshop experience. A series of exercises will introduce and build the techniques we use to create a fully improvised live radio broadcast featuring audience interaction, a narrative ‘serial’ story, improvised radio commercials, and all of it supported by the sound effects of our live foley table. Attendees will get to improvise in ways that they almost certainly have not before and will create a mini broadcast of their own by the time workshop is over.
Instructor bios:
Eric & Chuck co-created Improvised Golden Age of Radio in 2024 and Ashley was an original cast member that helped develop the form. Eric and Ashley have been performing together across Chicago, the Midwest, and Europe in their group Wolf Town. Ashley has taught at Second City Chicago for ten years and together with Eric and Chuck they bring over forty five years of improv performance and technical direction.
