During our class series, we'll teach participants traditional improv skills that emphasise FUN, TEAMWORK, and COMMUNICATION, not preparing for performance.

Expect a ton of joyful silliness!

Why Take Classes With Us?

Our studio is founded on the belief that student progress comes both from personal discovery and from teachers/facilitators who provide clear instruction and feedback. We not only want our students to learn the core skills of improvisation, but we also want them to improve their skills over their time with us. Because of that, we offer learning opportunities that students won't find anywhere else.

All of our students will receive the following:

  1. A safe, nurturing, and supportive environment
  2. 10 students max per class, so everyone gets lots of attention
  3. Flexible class options to suit your budget & schedule
  4. Coaching and check-ins during & after each game to help make sure you've understood the breakthroughs
  5. Blackboard discussions during class, when necessary, to help visual and analytical learners
  6. Closing each class by recognizing our own wins
  7. Participating - for those who wish! - in our student showcases

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
David is the founder of Change Through Play and has been improvising for over 30 years. He originally learned improv at The Groundlings in LA, before shifting to work with Stan Wells at his Empty Stage Theater for a decade. After short stints at ACME comedy theater and Second City LA, David went on to study with Stan's teacher, Emmy-Winning director Bill Steinkellner, where he still trains when in LA. David's been a member of SAG/AFTRA since 1993 and continues to work in movies, TV shows, and national commercials. David's acted with and directed some of his comedy and acting heroes including Jon Larroquette, Ray Romano, Jon Lovitz, The Kids in the Hall, Mindy Sterling, Lynne Stewart, and many more.

He continues to use improvisation to help train actors, business leaders, educators, and recovering addicts.
